Remembering Uschi Steigenberger – The Institute of Physics blog
It is with nice unhappiness that the Institute of Physics has learnt of the demise of Dr Uschi Steigenberger OBE.
Dr Steigenberger was once a well-respected, energetic member within the IOP group who was once a distinguished member of the Science Board, and was once instrumental within the early construction of the Women in Physics programme, which led directly to the Institute’s Juno Project to counter below illustration of ladies in college physics departments.
Further to this, she was once a senior member of group of workers at STFC’s Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, the place she retired in 2012 as Director of the ISIS facility after an extended and outstanding profession. She was once recognised for her contribution to UK science through the award of an OBE, offered through Science Minister Jo Johnson in January 2017.
Dr Steigenberger was once an asset to our physics group and a job fashion for ladies in STEM. She might be very much neglected. She passed on to the great beyond on Wednesday 12 December 2018 in Oxford after being recognized with pancreatic most cancers.
