The DIY Science Zone began with video games – in particular, GeekGirlCon‘s Gaming Zone. That zone had a design-your-own sport room and I idea, “What if we had a Science Zone?” That used to be again in 2012. The DIY Science Zone premiered on the 2013 GeekGirlCon and now we’re coming into our 4th 12 months!
The DIY Science Zone is a exertions of love – like the remainder of GeekGirlCon, which is administered via volunteers. The luck of the zone relies on the awesomest con attendees within the universe*, scientists and educators that volunteer to paintings within the zone, all forms of GeekGirlCon staffers (like me!), and donors.
The DIY Science Zone would no longer be imaginable with out donations. Donations fund 100% of the zone’s funds from coating used to give protection to the convention middle’s ground, to wall indicators directed attendees to science. Our once a year function is $6,000 and this 12 months we’ve raised $1,750 up to now!
Thanks to donors, we will convey 12+ experiments and the most efficient science educators to the zone! This 12 months, we’re in an area 4x as massive so we will cross BIG for science! Want to lend a hand us make our 4th 12 months tremendous?! PRESS THE BUTTON! FOR SCIENCE!
